Bomber Fat Free Shad Review
The Bomber Fat Free Shad looks like many other crankbaits, but it is my favorite for a number of reasons. For starters, it comes in a wide variety of sizes that dive to a wide variety of depths. Second, it comes in a variety of fish catching colors, including my favorite, Citrus Shad. That color seems to work on many different fish all over the world and is my go-to color in most situations. Most importantly, it has a wide, searching wiggle that seems to really attract fish. On multiple occasions I have caught two fish on the same lure as in the pic above. It has rattles, which attract fish, but its rattles are a little more subtle than many rattling lures so it doesn't overwhelm or frighten fish in clear water.
This crankbait is extremely popular all over, but in particular on Mexican lakes the guides swear by it, especially in Citrus Shad color. I have had great success with it on all types of bass, including the rare Rainbow Bass in Nicaragua (see pics below). If you are in a new place and just want to try to catch a fish, tie on one of these. They are extremely simple to use - just cast them out and wind them back with a steady retrieve. It almost seems too easy but it works. My five and six year old girls have even caught bass on them (see pic below) They aren't weedless, but they do a good job bouncing off of logs and rocks rather than hanging up. There are a lot of crankbaits out there, and they all probably catch some fish in certain situations, but this is the one I tie on day in and day out because it has produced for me in all kinds of situations for all kinds of fish. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed.
