The Jack family of fishes has a special place in my heart. I grew up in Hawaii dreaming of catching papio (as small jacks are called there) with little to show for it. As an adult I was able to pursue them more successfully. They are some of the strongest pound-for-pound fish in the world and a lot of fun to catch. From the king of the tropical reef, the Giant Trevally, to the strikingly unique Roosterfish, to the under-appreciated Jack Crevalle, you could spend your whole life chasing these pugnacious predators and never get bored.
