Great Barrier Reef Fishing
The Great Barrier Reef lies off the eastern coast of Australia and offers more species to catch than anywhere else I know. You could fish there your whole life and not catch them all. Best of all, most of them are tough saltwater fish that pull like crazy for their size and constantly threaten to break you off in the reef. I have lost a lot of tackle here. Some of the most targeted species here are Giant Trevally (a blast on topwater lures), Dogtooth Tuna, various smaller Trevallys, Snappers, Groupers, Emperors, and pretty much every tropical reef fish you can imagine.
You can definitely attempt to fish this area yourself if you live in Australia but if you don't you are probably best off getting on a charter. The best charter company in the business is Nomad Sportfishing. They fish some of the most remote areas of the reef, have top notch guides and boats, and really know what they are doing. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
